The Townsville Summer Camp is synonymous with rugby league in the northern region.

The highly-regarded camp is entering its 27th year, with more than 150 participants set to converge on the James Cook University from December 16-20.

Numbers are filling fast and potential participants are encouraged to get in quickly to secure their spot.

For more than a quarter of a century, the camp has turned out NRL, interstate and national players, including the likes of Nate Myles, Sam Thaiday and Daly Cherry-Evans who are currently in the UK with the Kangaroos for the World Cup.

Another success story is that of former Cowboys hooker Aaron Payne, who will this year become the first person to be involved at all three levels.

Payne was a camper and completed his level 2 coaching course a few years ago. This year, he will be a staff coach.
