NRL Head of Football Todd Greenberg will today welcome the 2014 NRL and NYC referees squads to their first day of training for next season at ANZ Stadium at Sydney Olympic Park.

Two Female Referees Pushing for NRL Nod Within Next 12 Months

The referees elite performance program has been expanded this year to include a part-time NYC squad, which includes two females for the first time Kasey Badger and Belinda Sleeman.

Under a new scheme, called the Women in League Officials Program (WILOP), the pair were identified as the two best female rugby league referees in the country at present.

The aim is to provide them with the resources and support to help fast track their development in the hope they will be ready to referee NRL in the future.
