THE Rockhampton Leagues Club Capras have recently announced they will play four games in Gladstone in 2014.
Marley Browne Oval in Gladstone will host an Easter Thursday night blockbuster when the Capras take on the Wynnum Seagulls in Round 8 of the Intrust Super Cup.
The match could well coincide with the return of Gladstone-based five-eighth Brent Crisp who had the screw removed from his troublesome ankle on Monday. As a lead-up to the match, the Rockhampton Rustlers will face the Gladstone Raiders.
In Round 13, the Capras will get their chance to exact revenge on the PNG Hunters when the face them in a Saturday night blockbuster at Marley Browne Oval on the May 24. With the popularity of the Hunters, this game is sure to be a great spectacle for the Gladstone public.
Gladstone fans will also be treated to Intrust Super Cup games at Marley Browne Oval on June 14 (v Souths) and August 2 (v Sunshine Coast).
Capras Head Coach Jason Hetherington said he was ecstatic about the four games in Gladstone.
“Last year we had wonderful crowds for our games in Gladstone and this year I expect it to be no different. It is a great opportunity for the Gladstone public to see some great footy,” Hetherington said.
Capras Operations Manager Walson Carlos said whilst the club was disappointed to miss out on financial support from the Gladstone Regional Council to stage the games the club remains committed to satisfying the Capras fan base in the Gladstone region.
“The Gladstone community deserves to see rugby league at this level and I commend the Gladstone Rugby League for their commitment and support in bringing these games to the region,” Carlos said.
