The support continues to roll in for Trevor “The Axe” Gillmeister in his 1300km trek from Townsville to Brisbane.

Former Queensland Canterbury Bulldogs hooker Jason Hetherington and his wife Kym today linked up with Gilly for the walk into Marlborough.

Gilly is scheduled to arrive in Rockhampton this Friday after making solid progress over the past few days.

Yesterday morning saw a 6.15am start as they set off for St Lawrence, with Gilly and his support group enjoying a refreshing smoothie at the Flaggy Rocks Exotic Fruit Garden.

*The ‘Taking An Axe to Asbestos’ campaign will see Gilly walk an average 48km a day for 28 days. He set off from Townsville on September 26 and will arrive in Brisbane on October 27, almost five years to the day since his father died from the disease.
