NQ rugby league clubs go online – via Sheron McDougall Northern Division

Joining their local junior club has never been easier for Far Northern families, with the roll out this year of online registrations for girls and boys wanting to play rugby league.

The introduction of the online registrations follow successful trials over the past two years with families and game officials embracing the technology.

QRL Northern Division Assistant Manager David Maiden said the introduction of the online registration was not only of great benefit to busy families, but also to the game administrators.

“Online registrations reduce the workload on club volunteers and replaces the cumbersome paper process of the past,” Maiden said.

“Parents can register children to their club, pay fees and even upload a photo or proof of age documents from the comfort of their own home.

“There will always be a place for the traditional ‘Sign On Days’ where players and parents meet the coaching staff, ask questions and get information on their club’s activities, but it gives options.”

The registration portal is accessed through the clubs’ websites with club and league officials having undertaken training in the system over the past few months.

Staff and volunteers also having the ability to register to their club online, building a history base of service to the game and a data base of accreditations.

Yarrabah Seahawks president Ian Patterson (pictured above) took the opportunity last week to “test drive” the system, registering as a volunteer in the club and was impressed.

“It was quick and easy to use and will help registering our staff,” he said.
