Norths Tigers defeated Swifts Bluebirds 56-4 in the Ipswich Rugby League Mayor Paul Pisasale A-Grade Cup on Sunday.

Although the Bluebirds were first to score to get a 4-0 lead in the 10th minute, the Tigers were leading 18-4 just 15 minutes later as they showed great support play to score some thrilling tries.

Further evidence of Norths' support play came in the 31st minute when Brendon Lindsay finished-off a superb team play to score a try in the corner to extend the Tigers' lead to 22-4.

A late first-half try to Norths centre Tonga Mounga gave the Tigers a 28-4 halftime lead.

Norths winger Anava Fesolai scored two tries early in the second half, with his try in the 48th minute particularly outstanding, breaking through in his own half using power and pace to race away and extend the Tigers' lead to 38-4.

In the 59th minute Brendan Marshall powered his way over to score out wide to get the Tigers even further in front with the score at 44-4.

Swifts were able to get some good possession in good field position, but Norths showed that their defence was equal to their attack as they kept showing up in defence to stop the Bluebirds from scoring.

In the 75th minute Christopher Scanlan made a break for the Tigers creating space allowing Joshua Roberts to show up in support and score a great try.

With just seconds remaining Norths scored a try to take the final score to 56-4 in favour of the Tigers.

In the other Ipswich Rugby League Mayor Paul Pisasale A-Grade Cup round 10 games, Goodna defeated Brothers 31-18 and West End defeated Fassifern 26-25.
