Brothers and Swifts Bluebirds drew 28-all in the Ipswich Rugby League Mayor Paul Pisasale A-Grade Cup on Sunday.

Swifts gained the early momentum in the match and looked good in attack.

In the 6th minute Tele Salasa scored for the Bluebirds as the early momentum helped Swifts to a 6-nil lead.

Swifts kept the momentum as they looked to establish a strong lead, and by the 27th minute the Bluebirds had jumped out to an 18-nil lead.

The Brethren tried hard to get back into the game and they began to put Swifts under pressure.

In the 32nd minute Brothers forced a Swifts goal-line dropout and just two minutes later Josh Leisemann scored for Brothers to get his team back within 12-points of the lead.

Four minutes later Brothers scored again, closing the margin to just six points.

With less than one minute remaining in the first half, the margin had grown back to 12-points as Swifts scored to go into halftime with a 24-12 lead.

Nine minutes after halftime Brothers scored from a well-weighted kick to cut the margin back down to a converted try.

Swifts got good possession in Brothers' territory and tested Brothers, but the Brethren's defence held strong.

Brothers' strong defence was rewarded just minutes later as they worked their way into Swifts' territory and scored a try to get within two points of the Bluebirds.

In the 70th minute some smart ball playing resulted in a Brothers try, putting the Brethren in front for the first time in the match 28-24.

Swifts had multiple opportunities to score in the final minutes of the match but desperate Brothers defence was keeping them out.

In the 79th minute the Bluebirds got past the determined Brothers defence to level the scores at 28-all as the game ended in a thrilling draw.
