Norths Tigers defeated Goodna Eagles 56-24 on Sunday to claim a spot in the 2015 Ipswich Rugby League Mayor Paul Pisasale A-Grade Cup Grand Final.

The Tigers were impressive in their victory as they qualified for the grand final for their second consecutive year.

Norths gained territorial advantage early in the game as Anava Fesolai scored in the corner to give the Tigers a 6-nil lead.

In the 16th minute Norths' two front-rowers combined to extend the Tigers' lead when Jacob Stephan scored after receiving a clever pass from Bradley Oddi.

Two tries in quick succession to Steven West and Brendan Marshall had the Tigers in front 24-nil in the 24th minute.

In the 29th minute Norths conceded a penalty late in a defensive set and Anthony Noa scored for Goodna in the following set.

Just eight minutes later Noa scored again for Goodna as the Eagles cut Norths' lead down to 24-12.

Early in the second half both teams looked good in attack but it was Norths who struck first when Brendan Marshall showed great pace, power and determination to score and extend the Tigers' lead to 30-12.

Goodna struck back just five minutes later when winger Alex Tupuse gathered a well-placed cross-field kick to score and get the Eagles back within two converted tries.

Just as it seemed the Eagles had momentum going their way, Norths scored a try against the run of play in the 54th minute to give the Tigers a 36-18 lead.

Only 12-minutes later Norths' lead had leapt to 56-18 after tries to Tonga Mounga, Matthew Fairhurst, Kane Fuller and Matthew Bettiens.

With seven minutes of the match remaining Anthony Noa scored another try for Goodna to reduce the Tigers' lead to 56-24.

The Tigers' win sees them qualify for the 2015 Ipswich Rugby League Mayor Paul Pisasale A-Grade Cup Grand Final on September 20 at the North Ipswich Reserve.

While Goodna will play in a Grand Final qualifier next weekend against Brothers who defeated West End 41-18 in an elimination final on Saturday.
