The eighth Annual Billy Slater League Tag Challenge was played at Innisfail's Callendar Park last week with more than 550 children participating.

Twenty-two primary schools were represented across the Cassowary Coast, Tablelands and Cairns.

Distance was no barrier for Cape York Peninsula's Lockhart River State School which received the Sportsmanship Award.

Maroons and Kangaroos star Slater attended for the whole day, signing autographs and team photos for the school students, teachers and parents.
