The Central Highlands Rugby League have seen eight players selected for the Central Crows Representative team at the 47th Battalion Carnival in Roma last weekend.

Kailah Rogers (Emerald Cowgirls), Elle Waters (Clermont Bears Ladies), Tegan Rolfe (Clermont Bears Ladies), Carly Bell (Clermont Bears Ladies), Mariah Storch (Blackwater Crushettes), Cloe Ramsay (Emerald Tigers Ladies) and Kiri Samson (Emerald Tigers Ladies) were selected in the Central Crows Women’s side, and Jason King (Emerald Tigers) was selected in the Central Crows Men’s side.

Juanita McDonald (Dysart Bulls Ladies) was also selected as a shadow player for the Central Crows Women’s side.

Central Highlands Rugby League President Frank Lambley says the success of eight Central Crows representatives was the result of a very successful 47th Battalion carnival for both the Men’s and Women’s sides.

“This year’s carnival has been the most successful carnival for both our Men’s and Women’s teams.

“Our Men finished fifth from eight teams, only two points away from tied third with Rockhampton and Toowoomba.

“The Men really dug deep and shook up the competition laying a platform for next year,” Lambley said.

“With our Women’s side, it was the first time that our team competed wearing the Central Highlands badge and with very big expectations of us being very competitive, we didn’t disappoint.

“It was unfortunate that we went down to the Sunshine Coast 10-4 in the grand final, but we must be very proud and happy at how we played considering the Sunshine Coast play in the regular South-East Queensland Division 1 Women’s competition.”

The Sunshine Coast Falcons made it a winning double taking home both the Men’s and Women’s 47th Battalion trophies after two fierce grand final appearances against the South West Country Men’s side and Central Highlands Women’s side.

Mariah Storch was named Player of the grand final after she tackled herself to a standstill.

Both Crows Men’s and Women’s sides will travel to the Gold Coast on Friday June 3 to Sunday, June 5 to compete in the QRL State Carnival against the Northern Marlins and South East Queensland.
