The desire for a clean sweep burns fiercely in the XXXX Queensland Maroons, said forward Sam Thaiday (after he'd finished his good-natured ribbing of reporter Peter Psaltis about his height).

"It's something you can really measure the success of the team," Thaiday said of securing a Blues shutout at Sydney's ANZ Stadium on Wednesday, July 13.

In praise of Corey Parker, who will pull on the Maroon jersey for the last time in Sydney, he said: "He's worked hard over his career and has gotten better with age."

Thaiday also spoke of the fresh faces in the side - Dane Gagai (three games before July 13), Corey Oates and Justin O'Neill (both two), and Gavin Cooper (to debut in Sydney after being named Queensland's 18th man for Game I).
