Winning Burleigh Bears Women's captain Karina Brown was thrilled her team was able to claim back-to-back SEQ Women's titles with a strong game over Souths on Saturday, September 17.

Brown - who also represents the Queensland Women's team and Australian Jillaroos - said it was a goal of the team at the beginning of the season to defend their title and she could not be prouder of her team-mates.

The Bears side also had their fair share of supporters come out to cheer them on against their rivals for the game at Bishop Park, with Brown saying overall it was more like a family than a football club.

She also said the game of rugby league was going well on the Gold Coast with a number of younger players making their mark in the Burleigh side.
