When you are the best rugby league player in the world you might have a reason to take the foot off the pedal.

However that just isn’t the Cooper Cronk way though.

The Storm halfback was last month awarded the 2016 Golden Boot – officially earning him the status as the world’s best player.

It was seemingly the last award left to add to a trophy cabinet already bursting at the seems after 13 stellar seasons and counting.

To achieve such a feet at 33, an age where “experts” are quick to pass judgement, is a testament to Cronk’s unmatched professionalism.

He does admit though that to receive such an accolade after all these years came as a surprise.

“The honest answer is yes. I am super fortunate to play the game at the Club that I do,” Cronk said.

“If you had of told me that 2016 would reap the rewards that it did I wouldn’t have believed it.”

The hard work never stops though.

“There is another mountain to climb and there is always something to improve,” Cronk said.

“I am never one to dwell on achievements as such, I am more about improving the skills of the game that make your game improve naturally and everything else takes care of itself.

“I’ve already looked at the areas I need to maintain for this upcoming season.

Never content, never willing to settle, always looking to improve – that is the true Cooper Cronk way.
