Toowoomba hosted a magical night at the Cobb & Co Museum on last Wednesday (July 5) night.

The night celebrated the Origin of State of Origin with special guests including inaugural players in the very first State of Origin match in 1980.

The players included five-eighth Allan Smith as well as forward Rohan Hancock; who is the father of Queensland Women’s captain Steph Hancock, who will play in the Interstate Challenge next weekend (July 23).

Inaugural Queensland coach and former QRL chairman John McDonald and Australian and Queensland legend Greg Platz were also in attendance.

Many stories we told, but McDonald stole the show by wearing his original 1980 number 19 jersey (presented to him as coach).
