Cameron Smith will be at the top of the list in years to come when an Immortal from the current generation of NRL players is named, insists Steve Renouf in the NRL Podcast.

Renouf outlines why Smith is a shoo-in for the ultimate accolade and why the hole he will leave in the Queensland Maroons side in this year's State of Origin series is such a gaping one.

In the podcast the Broncos legend reveals why Andrew McCullough must be Smith's replacement and why Queensland selectors should not consider a left-field option of playing Ben Hunt at hooker and Michael Morgan in the halves.

Renouf also has a fascinating take on what caused Gold Coast Titans star recruit Bryce Cartwright to appear to give Melbourne Storm five-eighth Cameron Munster a saloon passage to the tryline last Saturday night.

Renouf also names the Burgess brother that has impressed him the most this year for South Sydney and why he believes the Manly Sea Eagles will continue on their winning ways and upset the Melbourne Storm.
