Maroons jersey sales to support Aussie farmers

Fifty dollars will be donated to Australian farmers following the purchase of any Queensland Maroons jersey with maroonsshop.com from today to further support the game’s Drought Relief Goodwill Tour.

An initiative of the QRL, Men of League and FOGS, this week’s tour aims to lift the spirits of locals with a host of current and former NRL players travelling to five towns in drought-ravaged Central Queensland.

And now, thanks to the additional backing of the Queensland Maroons official apparel partner ISC Sport, the QRL is pleased to announce a financial component of the tour to further assist those in need.

From today through to the end of this month, every jersey sale on maroonsshop.com will help bolster the funds of QRL charity partners Drought Angels and Rural Aid.

Rugby league great Shane Webcke has witnessed the struggles of many rural farmers first hand and is urging fans to back the initiative.

“Our Aussie farmers are doing it tough and need all the support they can get,” Webcke said.

“Check out the jerseys available now at maroonsshop.com and lend a hand to our farmers in need.”

The Central Queensland touring party includes former Queensland Maroons players David Shillington, Michael Crocker and Chris Walker, as well as Cronulla Sharks utility Kurt Capewell.

Thanks to the support of Vanguard Blinds who have kindly offered to provide transport in support of the initiative, the touring party will fly direct to Longreach before visiting Blackall, Charleville, St George and Roma.

They will join NRL Game Development teams at schools for a series of coaching clinics and will share plenty of laughs and stories with locals at some well-known watering holes towards the end of each day.

Lion, the QRL’s longest-serving partner, is displaying its goodwill by generously donating XXXX Gold to each pub for locals to quench their thirst.

Steeden has thrown its support behind the tour as well, with each school to receive a bag of footballs.
