Raiders Open training Session to support Bushfire relief

The Canberra Raiders in conjunction with the Sunshine Coast Council will open the gates of Sunshine Coast Stadium on Friday January 17, with Raiders and rugby league fans encouraged to attend and donate to support ongoing bushfire relief.

The Open Session will be from 10am-12pm, with attending fans encouraged to dig deep and donate to support bushfire relief, with the Raiders available post-session for autographs and to meet fans.

The Raiders NRL squad will relocate to the Sunshine Coast this Thursday (January 9) for a 10-day training camp due to the ongoing effects of bushfire Smoke in Canberra, with their field session at Sunshine Coast Stadium next Friday open for fans.

Raiders Captain Jarrod Croker encouraged fans to come along, meet the team and donate.

“We’re hoping to see plenty of fans come along to our open training session next Friday to meet the team and hopefully raise some money for the ongoing efforts surrounding these terrible bushfires,” Croker said. “A lot of our playing group and staff have had friends and families who have been directly impacted by this tragedy, so if we can help raise some money for the cause we will.

“We’ve had to relocate our training to the Sunshine Coast so we can best prepare for the season ahead, so it’s also an opportunity for our Queensland based members and fans to come along and meet the team. We’ve played a trial match at Sunshine Coast Stadium before and it’s a great venue.”
