The Brisbane Broncos celebrate going back-to-back in the NRLW.

Brisbane can secure an incredible three-peat of NRLW premierships on Sunday – but the champion team aren't outwardly using it as motivation against the Roosters.

The Broncos have lost just one of 11 games in their three-year history, however coach Kelvin Wright insisted they aren't concerned about prior achievements ahead of the ANZ Stadium grand final.

"To be honest, [the three-peat] is actually something we ruled out talking about right at the start of the season," Wright said on Saturday.

"We've only got five players in our squad that were part of that first year, so I guess it puts unneeded pressure on players that have come into the team.

"We put a line through the sand last year, that was the championship team last year. This team, at the moment, hasn't won anything.

"We're just concentrating on winning the 2020 premiership, and then hopefully following that we can look back on the history of the team."

Similarly, they won't reflect on the "sacrifices" of the campaign – including having to fly in and out for matches and living in a COVID bubble.

"I think we can probably look back afterwards and realise what a special group that we have. Again, the challenges that they've faced, I can't be proud enough of them," Wright said.

"The way that they all accept the challenges that have been put before them. You've heard us say before we have to accept what's happened and then we have to act on that and obviously adapt."

Wright's team hasn't lost a game this season and beat Jamie Feeney's Roosters 24-16 in round three last week, though star Tricolours forwards Hannah Southwell and Simaima Taufa were rested in that match.

Despite that victory, Wright is wary of their opponents.

"I certainly think that they are going to be a threat," he said.

"I suppose when we went back and analysed the game, we didn’t look at the scoreline so much. We go back and review our performance.

"So there were certainly areas of the game that we really wanted to tidy up and obviously just analysing the Roosters' game a bit more closely as well against us.

"There's a couple of areas there that we're going to have to be really on our mark to make sure we contain them. It's going to be a challenge."

With a wealth of big-game experience and the leadership of Dally M Player of the Year Ali Brigginshaw, Brisbane should benefit from having performed on the main stage time and again.

Hersday - grand final edition

The Broncos have been ruthless in deciders, having smashed the Roosters 34-12 in 2018 before slaying the Dragons 30-6 last year.

"There's obviously always an air of excitement around the group going into grand final week," Wright said.

"But I think it certainly helps that we've got a lot of players that have been here the last couple of years, especially last year.

"It's exciting. It's great for all the new players that are here too."

Looking ahead, Wright wants some sort of competition expansion, if done carefully, to occur next year.

NRLW coaches support expansion

"I think the plans were in place to add more games this year prior to COVID happening. Hopefully that's still in the pipeline for the 2021 season," he said.

"I've certainly got my view on where I think we can and how I think we should expand. Ultimately, I think we'll do a review at the end of the season to see if that's possible.

"I think expansion is great, but we've got to make sure the quality stays at a really high level. I think over three seasons we've seen the quality get better and better.

"We don't want to expand too big and fast and then drop the quality of football amongst the teams either."
