A major milestone was hit at Origin Three in Brisbane when the total raised through the NRL's partnership with the 50-50 fundraising platform surpassed $1 million.
NRL Community and 50-50 have been raising funds for great causes since 2020, with 45 raffles raising $1,120,129 to be split evenly between the charities and the raffle winners.
With a massive crowd on hand at Suncorp Stadium for Game Three of the Origin series a record tally of $103,443 was raised for the QRL’s Maroons Foundation.
A total of 20 great causes have benefitted from the partnership with more than 3000 volunteer hours powering the raffles.
Among the local community and charity organisations to have benefitted are the Black Dog Institute, Gotcha4Life, Kids Helpline, Family of League, the Preston Campbell Foundation and the Carl Webb Foundation.
"We are fortunate to provide a platform to support our charity and community partners," said Nicola Skinner, the NRL's general manager of community programs.
"Celebrating the milestone of $1 million raised for charities is truly special, and I want to extend my thanks to the hundreds of volunteers who have contributed over the years.
"This achievement would not have been possible without the dedication of those involved in and around the game."
