Rob Hall is based in Townsville and has been involved in rugby league at the grassroots level as a player and coach for more than 15 years.
Prior to taking up his role with QRL, Rob served in the Australian Army as a combat engineer and most recently as a recruit instructor at the 1st Recruit Training Battalion in Wagga Wagga.
He is currently completing a Certificate IV in Elite Athlete Wellbeing Management and brings a passion for not only the game of rugby league, but also the health and wellbeing of those involved at all levels of our game.
Hall understands how great a role the game of rugby league can play in the lives of young people through his own experiences as a young footballer and again as a coach and feels the engagement young people have with rugby league gives us the opportunity to address some really important issues and impart some knowledge and skills in the process.
One particular passion for Hall is the development of a project that will see people Youth Mental Health First Aid qualified and wellbeing advocates at every club – firstly in Townsville before being rolled out into the major competitions in Mackay and Cairns.
This project will include increased intervention training for coaches and trainers, giving those involved in the community unprecedented access to support through engagement in rugby league, with the key outcome being increased mental health literacy and increases in help seeking behaviours.
