Petero Civoniceva played the last of his 33 Origin games in 2012, but he continues to inspire Queenslanders in the representative arena.

Earlier today, the former Maroons and Kangaroos prop presented the jerseys to the Queensland Under 18 players at the team’s Darling Harbour hotel.

Civoniceva spoke about his passion for the maroon jersey; and fondly recalled the thrill of representing the Queensland Under 17s as a rising junior with the Redcliffe Dolphins.

His presence today and again tomorrow on game day is sure to provide a big lift for the young Maroons, who will go up against a formidable NSW team at ANZ Stadium in the curtain-raiser to Origin Two.

The Queensland Under 18s rounded out preparations this morning with a quality session at Leichhardt Oval.

They will have a relaxing game of park cricket tomorrow, before resting up and heading to the ground for the 5.55pm match which will be streamed live on QRL.com.au
