THE club has a proud history in rugby league. In recent years, we have been the two-time premier winners for Central Burnett Rugby League (in 2012-2013) and are looking to take out the win for 2014 in coming weeks.

In recent years, our club has been coached by Gary Popp, a long standing member of the Monto community and a champion player. He is now moved on to become president for Central Burnett.

The club is professional in all it does. At Monto Roos Rugby League Club, our spirit of social responsibility rests on one principle: giving back to the very community that has helped to make our club safe and successful. We are pleased to be a contributor to many of our local community organisations and recently our players took a weekend out of their own time to lay a concrete slab and assemble a shed for St John’s Ambulance, a volunteer group that comes to our home games. It is a core focus of our group to continue to assist members, sponsors and community groups within Monto.

After a shaky start the season, we have come back hard. As a club, we are especially proud of long standing player Shane Carter. Shane been captain of the Monto Roos for many years and has a firm motto of “Lead by Example”. Shane is an excellent player who continues to take out many of our end of year club awards.

The members of Monto Roos Rugby League Club can be truly proud of its past history and success and can look forward to exciting times in the future.
