Biography

Born in Cairns, Aidan Guerra grew up in Townsville, where he played junior rugby league for Brothers.

Guerra’s former coach at Ignatius Park College, Townsville, Kristian Woolf made a phone call to Melbourne, and Guerra was offered a deal by the Storm a day later.

Guerra forged a name for himself with the Storm's National Youth Competition team, before signing with the Sydney Roosters in 2010. He made his NRL debut in Round 1, 2010, against South Sydney, and played nine matches that season.

He played second row for the Roosters in their 26-18 win over Manly in the 2013 NRL grand final, scoring one of his side's four tries.

Guerra made his international debut for Italy at the 2013 World Cup, playing three matches at centre, and scoring two tries in an historic Test win over Wales in Cardiff.

He made his State of Origin debut for Queensland in 2014, and went on to play 10 matches, across four series, including three series wins.

He plays a tough, uncompromising brand of footy and that is what it takes to play State of Origin.

Cameron Smith FOG #140

Guerra made his Test debut for Australia in the 2014 Four Nations tournament - against the Kiwis in Brisbane.

He joined Newcastle Knights in 2018 on a three-year deal and his final NRL match was Newcastle's 46-20 loss to South Sydney, in a 2020 elimination final.

He was handed the final conversion attempt after Hymel Hunt scored in the 80th minute. Guerra landed the side-line shot, for the only goal of his career.

He finished with 211 NRL games to his credit, 154 with the Roosters. He scored 49 tries along the way.

A brilliant edge runner, his strength, footwork and ball skills made him one of the game's most dangerous forwards.

A qualified personal trainer, Guerra is also keen on his cooking, with a particular emphasis on Italian cuisine.

He has worked in the construction industry since his retirement.
