Biography
A former rodeo rider, Jacob 'Bull' Lillyman was a forward who never shirked his duty, and earned respect on both sides of the Tasman.
He played junior rugby league for his home town club, Richmond Tigers in Outback Queensland, where his father, Wayne (Budge) was a goal kicking forward.
Jacob attended Townsville league stronghold, Kirwan State High School, from where he was signed by the North Queensland Cowboys. Lillyman made his NRL debut for the Cowboys in 2003 and that same year was selected in the Queensland Under 19s.
He made his State of Origin debut for the Maroons in Game II, 2006 and went on to play 14 matches, his last appearance coming in 2017.
He’s a consistent performer, so it’s no surprise he had such a long career in the Queensland jersey.

During that time he was part of six series winning sides. In 2009, Lillyman signed with the New Zealand Warriors, and went on to play 188 games, over nine years, for the club, moving from second row to prop, the position he filled in the 2011 NRL grand final, when the Warriors went down 24-10 to Manly.
Lillyman signed a one year deal with Newcastle Knights, in 2018, and played 15 games for the club, before announcing his retirement.
He made 265 NRL appearances over a 16-year career. Lillyman moved back to Auckland with his family, and works as a builder.
