CQ CAPRAS v NORTHS DEVILS

Browne Park on Saturday, July 27 6pm

Referee: Michael Gordon

Head to Head: Norths 21 Central 10 Drawn 2

Twitter: #intrustsupercup #ISC #CQCvDEVILS

After posting an important victory over Ipswich last weekend, the Capras have named an unchanged side to face the Devils, and will be aiming for three wins in a row for the first time this season. The Capras harbour hopes of a finals appearance this year and will need to keep their winning momentum alive well into the back end of the season. While the home side are a team on the up their opponents Norths will be looking to this game as their chance to halt their recent losing pattern. Following two poor losses where they have conceded 108 points, the Devils will be hoping to maintain their good record against the Capras. Norths have won the past three games played between the two sides including in round 5 where they recorded a 46-26 victory. The Capras have a mixed record at home at Browne Park this season, with three wins, three losses and a draw. The Devils have made three changes to their line-up with Daniel Ogden named to return at fullback in place of mid-season recruit Todd Murphy while Dan Beasley and Shaun Maloney have been named on the bench with Broncos Scott Anderson and Jarrod Wallace not named.

QRL Media tips: CQ Capras by 2. While Norths have the firepower and capability to bounce back the Capras will be buoyed by self-belief and can post another upset win in front of a parochial home crowd.

MACKAY CUTTERS v BURLEIGH BEARS

Virgin Australia Stadium on Saturday, July 27 6pm

Referee: Tim Rutherford

Head to Head: Mackay 7 Burleigh 4

Twitter: #intrustsupercup #ISC #MCvBEARS

The Cutters match against Burleigh this weekend will take on special significance with both teams playing for the Kerry Pattinson Memorial Shield. A strong supporter of local rugby league, Kerry Pattinson lost her battle with cancer in 2011. The Cutters, under former head coach Paul Bramley (also a former Burleigh coach), began the concept in 2011 with the Bramley family donating the shield. This year, the match will also raise funds for the familys preferred charity, The Australian Lung Foundation. For the match, the Cutters will have a handful of Cowboys in the team, with Clint Greenshields and Rory Kostjasyn both named in the starting side. Tariq Sims is also expected to be included in the side while his brother Ashton will move back into the NRL side. Other inclusions this week see Jason Schirnack and Chris Grevsmuhl come on to the bench, with Chris Ulugia, Dave Petersen and Kelvin Nielsen the players to miss out. Burleigh have also made a number of changes for this weekends game with Steve Michaels (wing), Tyler Chadburn (five-eighth) and Mark Ioane (prop) coming into the side for Dan Kerr, Jacob Grant and Jamie Judge.

QRL Media tips: Mackay Cutters by 10. It is hard to ignore the excellent form of the Cutters and will some strong additions to their team this weekend they should be able to account for the Bears.

NORTHERN PRIDE v SUNSHINE COAST SEA EAGLES

Barlow Park on Saturday, July 27 6.30pm

Referee: Nick Morel

Head to Head: Sunshine Coast 6 Pride 4

Twitter: #intrustsupercup #ISC #PRIDEvSCSE

While many league watchers would feel the script featuring the top-of-the-table Northern Pride hosting the struggling Sunshine Coast is already written the Sea Eagles will have a number of reasons to believe they can subvert the narrative. They will take heart in the fact the Pride have lost to teams who were outside of the five twice this year the CQ Capras and Tweed Heads. The Sea Eagles will also be hell-bent on stopping their current losing streak by snaring the biggest scalp possible. It definitely wont be easy with the Sunshine Coast having lost 13 games in a row, one short of their record losing run of 14 in 2010-11. Adding to their challenge is the fact the Pride have not lost at Barlow Park this year. The Pride have also won four of the past five games played between the sides and posted a big 48-6 win when they met in round 5. The home side will field an unchanged line-up to the one that defeated Norths 38-6 last week, with interchange player Ryan Ghietti set to play in his 50th Cup game for the Pride and 56th overall having also played Cup for Redcliffe. The Sunshine Coast have made three changes, with Jye Ballinger, Steve Tunnicliffe and Sam Bernstrom coming in to the side.

QRL Media tips: Northern Pride by 16. At their Barlow Park fortress, the Pride will have too much class for the Sunshine Coast.

EASTS TIGERS v IPSWICH JETS

Langlands Park on Sunday, July 28 2pm

Referee: Nick Kalpakidis

Head to Head: Easts 17 Ipswich 17 Drawn 1

Twitter: #intrustsupercup #ISC #TIGESvJETS

Promising Melbourne Storm playmaker Ben Hampton returns to the Tigers line up for Sundays crucial clash against the Ipswich Jets at Langlands Park. Hampton scored two tries in his NRL debut for the Storm last month and the former Queensland Under 20 representative should be brimming with confidence here. Hampton will join fellow Storm contracted players Junior Sau, Mahe Fonua, Tim Glasby, Kenny Bromwich and Lagi Setu in a formidable Tigers outfit. However, the Langlands Park club wont have the services of Storm big man Mitch Garbutt, who is out with an ankle injury suffered in the Tigers 14-10 loss to the Tweed last weekend. An Easts victory would see the Tigers draw level with the Jets on 22 competition points in what is looming as a fascinating finish to the regular season. The Jets enter this match in fourth position, despite losing four of their past five matches. Another loss here would spell danger for the Jets, who face a tough run home. However, there is no shortage of experience in the Ipswich ranks to pull them through this tough spot. Sundays match will be Ian Laceys (Toowoomba/Aspley/Ipswich) 150th Cup game and Rod Griffins (Wynnum/Pride/Tweed Heads/Ipswich) 100th appearance in Queenslands premier competition.

QRL Media tips: Easts Tigers by 10. The return of Ben Hampton is a big plus for the Tigers, who could be ready to take their frustrations out on a misfiring Jets team.

WYNNUM MANLY SEAGULLS v TWEED HEADS SEAGULLS

BMD Kougari Oval on Sunday, July 28 2pm (live on Channel 9)

Referee: Peter Gough

Head to Head: Wynnum 13 Tweed 13

Twitter: #intrustsupercup #ISC #WYNvTHS

The spotlight will be on Corey Norman in Sundays Channel 9 match at BMD Kougari Oval after the young Bronco was omitted from the clubs NRL team. The Eels-bound playmaker will slot into a Wynnum Manly Seagulls side which is on the verge of cementing its spot in this years Intrust Super Cup finals series. However, the Seagulls havent had it all their own way this season in their quest for a third-straight title, losing a number of key campaigners including Shea Moylan and Matt Seamark along the way due to injury. While Moylan isnt expected to return, halfback Seamark is due back before the finals. Normans stint with the Seagulls will provide coach Jon Buchanan with more options something he isnt lacking given how well young guns Jeriah Goodrich and Kurt French have come on in recent weeks. Wynnum have won six of their eight home games this year but they will need to work hard against a Tweed team that just wont go away. The Tweed produced a stirring comeback last Sunday to down Easts 14-10 at Piggabeen. Tweeds tenacious forward pack did the job last week and their big men will again play an important part in their push for victory.

QRL Media tips: Wynnum Manly by 12. There is no love lost between these fierce rivals but its the Seagulls from Brisbanes Bayside who hold the aces, particularly as Tweeds away form in recent times has been poor.

REDCLIFFE DOLPHINS v SOUTHS LOGAN MAGPIES

Dolphin Oval on Sunday, July 28 3pm

Referee: Chris Anderson

Head to Head: Redcliffe 25 Souths-Logan 8 Drawn 1

Twitter: #intrustsupercup #ISC #PHINSvSLM

Souths Logans representative prop Mat Pitman will tonight contest a dangerous throw charge at the judiciary. But even if the Queensland Residents star successfully beats the charge, he wont be lining up in Sundays crunch clash against the Dolphins. Pitman has already accepted a one match ban for a separate striking incident in the wake of the Magpies loss to the Wynnum Manly Seagulls last weekend. Souths Logan enter this match in eighth position, with the Dolphins two points further back in ninth. However, both clubs are close enough to force their way into the top five in coming weeks. The Dolphins appear to be the side on the up, but they will need to quickly rectify an uncharacteristic poor record at home this year. Redcliffe have won only three of their eight matches at Dolphin Oval in 2013. Redcliffe winger Liam Georgetown is now level with Greg Bourke on the all-time Cup points scorer list with 1150. He requires 10 more points to bring up 100 for the sixth season in a row. He remains one short of Heath Egglestones single club try scoring record of 99.

QRL Media tips: Redcliffe Dolphins by 4. The Dolphins finally appear to have momentum on their side after back-to-back wins. They have a lot to play for here and should be hard to beat.
