THE CQ Capras claimed an important 24-18 victory over the Redcliffe Dolphins in Roma on Saturday night with the result continuing to provide them with hope of a finals berth.

They started the game well with fullback Cameron Munster scoring the first try of the afternoon after the team capitalised on a good run from halfback Darcy Etrich.

This was followed by a try to centre Joshua Benjamin and another to skipper Gavin Hiscox to go out to an 18-0 lead.

However, the Dolphins managed to pull one back when Tui Samoa went over to score with his team heading to the sheds trailing 18-6.

The Dolphins got the scoring started in the second half with a try to Joe Bond and the fight back was on. However, Benjamins second try soon after again gave the Capras the upper hand, extending their lead.

The Dolphins had their chances to put more points on the board, but good defence from the Capras held them out with Delroy Berryman having a try disallowed.

With five to go Zach Strasser scored following a Liam Georgetown break but they ran out of time to push on with the Capras holding on.

This weekend, the Capras will travel to BMD Kougari Oval to take on Wynnum Manly, while Redcliffe will sit out with a bye.
