THE CQ Capras have named Stephen Parle (Cyril Connell Cup Under 16) and Lionel Harbin (Mal Meninga Cup Under 18) as the head coaches of the junior teams for 2014.

The experienced Parle will back up after taking the Under 16 side within a whisker of qualifying for the finals in 2013.

Harbin will be brimming with confidence after recently completing his duties as the Under 15 Queensland Indigenous Coach which saw him tour Papua New Guinea.

As an added bonus, Harbin has been asked to tour with the open age Queensland Indigenous tour after impressing officials with his coaching ability and manner on the juniors tour. He leaves Wednesday for a 10-day tour of New Zealand.

CQ Capras Operations Manager Walson Carlos said he felt confident the Central Queensland stars of the future were in good hands.

I think Parleys record speaks for itself he has done most things in rugby league and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the role, Carlos said.

Lionel has been one of the most outstanding up and coming coaches in the CQ region for quite a while now and Im sure the Under 18s will learn plenty off him.

There will be open trials for the Capras Cyril Connell and Mal Meninga Cup teams at a date, time and venue to be determined later this week.

The Capras have yet to finalise a sponsor for the juniors program after Stanwells three-year commitment came to an end this year, but Carlos was confident there would soon be some positive news on that front.

We are continuing to get plenty of interest in the Naming Rights sponsorship of the juniors program. It is not too late, however for businesses to register their interest, Carlos said.

Its a prime piece of sponsorship collateral because the boys that play in these teams are the stars of the future and will be great ambassadors for any company.

Businesses interested in sponsoring the CQ Capras 16 and Under 18 sides can contact the Capras office on (07) 4922 5388 or email operations@capras.com.au.
