WEST Mitchelton recently hosted a Qualifying Day for this year’s Brisbane Broncos Secondary Schools Under 13 Renouf Shield and Under 14 Hancock Cup competition.

Seven schools competed across both age groups, with three from each age group moving on to contest further rounds of the competition alongside already qualified schools: Wavell State High School, Redbank Plains State High School, Marsden State High School, Keebra Park State High School and Coombabah State High School.

The seven schools were: Ipswich State High School, Palm Beach Currumbin, St Mary’s College Toowoomba, St Peter Claver College, Beenleigh State High School, Sandgate State High School and Faith Lutheran College, Plainland.

In the Under 13 Renouf Shield – Palm Beach Currumbin, Ipswich State High School and St Peter Claver College progressed; while in the Under 14 Michael Hancock Cup division Ipswich State High School, Palm Beach Currumbin and St Mary’s College Toowoomba progressed.

Round 1 of both the Shield and Cup will kick off on Tuesday, April 29 at a venue yet to be determined.

The competition will run through Term 2 and Term 3, with the quarterfinals being played on July 29, the semi-finals on August 5 and the grand finals on August 12.
