PLAYERS with Intrust Super Cup and National Youth Competition experience have dominated the Queensland Universities team announced today.

An 18-man squad to represent the Universities Rugby League Qld (URLQ) will play against the NSW Tertiaries team in the annual grudge match on Friday, May 16 as a curtain raiser to the Broncos-Titans NRL clash.

Seven players who boast both Intrust Super Cup and NYC under-20s experience were chosen in a strong Queensland side who will try to back up the UQRL’s victory over NSW in Tonga last October.

In all, as many as 10 players have played in the Queensland State League, including six who played Intrust Super Cup at the weekend.

They include Wynnum Manly pair Ben Shea and Stephen Coombe, as well as Ipswich’s Josh Seage and Easts Tigers’ forward Jacob Ling.

Norths Devils’ halfback Sam Foster will steer the URLQ team around, with teammate Zach Koitka named at fullback.

The Queensland Universities team will go into camp on Tuesday, May 13 to prepare for the match against NSW. The coach of the team will be named later this week.

An Australian Universities team for an international tour in October will be chosen from the game.
