Intrust Super Cup Round 14 - Tweed Heads Seagulls V Sunshine Coast Falcons at Piggabeen Sports Reserve, Tweed Heads. 2.00pm Sunday June 1, 2014.

Tweed win over Falcons pushes Gulls into top five

THE Tweed Heads Seagulls have climbed in the Intrust Super Cup top five following their 36-18 win over the Sunshine Coast Falcons at Piggabeen on Sunday.

It was the sixth win a row for the Seagulls who have steadily been building on their performances since they returned from PNG where they lost to the Hunters in round 7.

For much of the first half, it was a close game - with the Falcons scoring the first try and pushing the home side to only trail 18-12 at halftime.

After the break however, the Seagulls were able to pull away from their feathered counterparts to go on and comfortably win the match.

Tweed winger Tom Merritt scored two tries to maintain his spot at the top of the leading try scorers ladder with Garry Lo of the PNG Hunters - while home fans were also pleased to see co-captain James Wood score a try in his return from injury.
