Pictured: Todd Murphy (Norths Devils)

Norths Devils playmaker Todd Murphy leads the race for the prestigious Courier-Mail Medal as the second half of an intriguing regular season begins to unfold.

The time-honoured award recognises the best and fairest player in Intrust Super Cup, with the referees casting their votes at the end of each match on a 3-2-1 basis.

Votes will stay out of the public eye after the completion of this weekend’s round with the final leader board to be revealed at the QRL’s Annual Gala Dinner in September.

Murphy, who is currently sidelined through injury, has polled maximum points on four occasions to be out in front on 16 points from PNG Hunters skipper Israel Eliab (14) and Wynnum Manly hooker Jake Granville (14).

Rounding out the current top five are Devils skipper Brendon Gibb (13) and Ipswich captain Keiron Lander (12).
