THE first Ipswich Jets 9-a-Side Challenge was held last Wednesday (June 4) at the North Ipswich Reserve. The day for primary schools was conducted in a Nines format and there were nine school teams take part.

The organisers also combined some players from all schools to make a Barbarian team who made up a 10th team; with the teams divided into two pools of five.

Brassall, Karalee, Lowood, Peak Crossing, Kalbar, Leichardt and Peak Crossing were the participating schools on the day.

A special mention has to go out to all of the girls who tested their skills against the boys on the day; including an all-girls team from Lowood.

In both pools, Brassall State School teams were strong, winning both pools to contest the final.

The Cross Pool games were contested as the results show below:

A big thanks has to the Ipswich City Council for allowing us to use the field for the day, Riverlink Telstra Shop who provided giveaways and also sportsmanship awards for each team and of course the Ipswich Jets and Brendon Lindsay.

There are already plans underway for another Nines day in term three – hope to see you there.
