To kick off the last round of matches before the finals series, South Kolan hosted games at Shark Park.

In the first game both Agnes Water and Gin Gin were short on numbers with the Marlins going into the game one up on the Hawks having 14 playing to 13, giving Agnes the one reserve to rotate.

This was no adventure for the Marlins as Gin Gin played strongly as a team scoring a massive 13 tries with hooker Luke Morrison kicking 10 from 13 for the day beating Agnes 72-26. Tim McIntosh and Aaryn Lowcock again stood out on the losing side as this pair leaves nothing in the tank at the end of a game.

Gin Gin finally has secured a win after a mid-year slump and hope this win will turn around their season.

In the main game South Kolan took on old foe Avondale with the two teams closely matched this season with Avondale 2 -1 up for the year but Kolan levelled the score two all after the Sharks won eight tries to five in their 38-22 victory.

Sharks second-rower Alo Moli won NDRL Player of the Round scoring three tries for the day. Front rower Alekisanita Pulotu scored four tries and three goals taking his total to 22 out of his side’s 38 points.

The Tigers have only won one game from their last four encounters and will take on Agnes Water next weekend.

Miriam Vale have turned their season around in recent weeks and this new form will be put to the test against South Kolan. Gin Gin get the week off.

Ladder: South Kolan 24, Gin Gin 20, Avondale 18, Miriam Vale 18 and Agnes Water 12.
