The Cairns District Junior Rugby League will host the 2014 Grand Finals at Jones Park, Mann St, Westcourt this Saturday with games kicking off at 10am.

Teams from Tully, Innisfail Brothers, Southern Suburbs, Edmonton, Kangaroos, Cairns Brothers and Mareeba clubs have all played off during the semi-finals culminating in the Grand Finals being contested this weekend.

The day’s program also includes the official opening of the Jones Park redevelopment with guests including members of Jones and Seary families, Mayor Bob Manning and Member for Leichardt Warren Entsch.

The Federal Government-funded multi-million dollar upgrade has included extensive drainage, field and car park upgrades and major renovations to the building complex with the redeveloped grounds being opened in time for the hosting of the State Junior Carnival in July 2014.

The facility is home to the Cairns District Junior Rugby League, Central Scorpions Junior Rugby League and Wanderers Rugby Union and is now well served to offer quality facilities and to host school competitions and carnivals in the future.
