Intrust Super Cup fans are in for a scorching season finale, with the Queensland Rugby League today outlining a sizzling month of footy that culminates with the Grand Final at Suncorp Stadium.

Semi-final rivals Blake Leary (Northern Pride), Tim Natusch (Wynnum Manly Seagulls), Steven Thorpe (Easts Tigers), James Wood (Tweed Heads Seagulls) and Marmin Barba (Ipswich Jets) fuelled the fire today in Brisbane at the official launch of the 2014 series.

The explosive finals action kicks off this weekend, with Tweed Heads hosting Ipswich in the Elimination Final and Wynnum Manly meeting Easts Tigers in the Qualifying Final for the right to take on minor premiers Northern Pride.

Embracing the excitement and unpredictability that only the ninth month of the year can deliver forms the essence of the “September Sizzles” campaign, which will:

Fans are in for a triple treat, with the bumper program to include the FOGS Cup and FOGS Colts Challenge (Under 20s) grand finals, along with an array of entertainment and activities for families and diehard fans.

State League grand finals at Suncorp Stadium have produced some amazing scenes of jubilation and despair over the years.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Burleigh’s remarkable extra-time Grand Final victory over the Easts Tigers.

The 2004 epic is part of rugby league folklore; and to commemorate the thrilling 97 minute tussle the QRL is producing a special series featuring highlights and interviews with some of the key men, including Bears coach Rick Stone, referee Tony Maksoud, commentator David Wright and the heroic players.

Through the launch of a television and radio campaign, fans are urged to “save the date” and begin their early planning for the September 28 sizzler.
