Huge boost for Central Tigers

The Centrals Tigers have received a major psychological boost heading into the minor semi-final after knocking over next week's opponents the Burdekin Roosters with a nail biting 30-28 victory at Kern Brothers Drive.  

The win saw Centrals back into the winners circle and gain some much needed confidence as they prepare for next weeks final.  

The Tigers were unstoppable in the first half racing to a 16-0 lead at the break before some silly unforced errors saw the Roosters coming home strong in the second half.  

The Tigers thought they had wrapped the match up with 10 minutes to go with a 30-22 lead however a late try by the Roosters saw the margin reduced to two with only minutes remaining.

Burdekin were unable to complete the fairytale that saw Centrals hold on for a gritty and much deserving win.  

The only sour note for the Tigers were some injury concerns with a suspected shoulder injury to young flyer Francis Winterstein, while both front rowers Kieron Bateup (ankle) and Ashley Payne (concussion), may also be in doubt for next week's clash after being forced from the field.
