Junior Rugby League players from throughout the Atherton Tablelands met at one of the North’s most picturesque sporting venues, Wondecla Oval, Herberton on Saturday for the season finals.

The Eacham League encompasses clubs from the Atherton, Herberton, Kuranda, Malanda, and Ravenshoe districts with 530 players participating in 2014.

Great sportsmanship and skills were on display in the round robin games of the Under 7’s, 8’s and 10’s leading into the action packed afternoon of Grand Final games.

Atherton clinched the premiership title in the Under 12’s and Under 16’s grades with the parochial home crowd cheering the Herberton Magpies to victory in the Under 14’s clash.

Presentations were also made for the Club Champions – Atherton Junior Rugby League.

Rooster Rising Star award to Malanda Eels player Anthony Curcio and the Michael Hayes Club Person of the Year award was presented to Gerard Griffin.
