Queensland Rugby League has today announced the appointment of Neil Wharton as Head of Football.

With more than 25 years’ experience as an educator, Neil brings an excellent skill set to the position.

He joins the QRL from St Joseph's College Gregory Terrace, where he is currently employed as the Sporting and Cultural Director.

His experience in the education sector is complemented by his long and distinguished involvement in rugby league as a professional player, coach and club administrator, initially in regional Queensland and then in roles at Redcliffe and Wynnum Manly.

Neil has also mentored a number of elite players and is passionate about the significant role rugby league plays in the education and development of young men and women.

He is expected to commence the newly-created Head of Football position in early January.
