Maroon Members got a rare chance to get up close and personal with some of their favourite Queensland players at an exclusive event on Tuesday, June 30.
Held at Suncorp Stadium, the Maroon Members-only event gave supporters the opportunity to meet Queensland Origin stars Matt Scott, Cooper Cronk, Will Chambers and captain Cameron Smith ahead of State of Origin Game III next Wednesday.
Dedicated members Darren and Stephanie travelled nearly 500km from Bororen (south of Gladstone) for the day and will return to watch the decider.
“I’ve been a member since it began in 2011. It was excellent to have a chat to the boys and pass on our best wishes before the game,” Darren said.
“Unfortunately our daughter couldn’t make it, but she’s actually playing lawn bowls for Queensland against New South Wales, so there’s an Origin feel to that as well.”
Maroon Members posed for photographs with the Origin quartet and also made sure they got their autographs as well.
Scott, Cronk, Chambers and Smith re-joined their Queensland team-mates at Camp Maroon after the event.
