Two tries in the final five minutes saw the Redcliffe Dolphins snatch a last-gasp 20-14 win over Easts Tigers at Langlands Park.

The Dolphins trailed for the majority of the contest but took the lead when it mattered.

Trailing 14-4 at halftime, the visitors scored first after the break through prop Nick Timm but it looked as if the Tigers’ defence had done enough.

Jason Di Lizio’s side repelled multiple surges until Redcliffe hooker Hayden Hansen finally cracked the line to put his side ahead 16-14.

Five-eighth Jordan Mitchell then iced the game in the dying minutes.

The win moves the Dolphins to third place on the ladder but they could slip to fourth with two Round 13 matches to be played next weekend.

Despite missing regular fullback Brandon Downey and forward Dwayne Craft due to Intrust Super Cup promotions, Easts had the first half running.

Young centre Jake Hargreaves capitalised on a great offload from Leon Ellia-Nuikore for the ten-point halftime margin.

Easts defended stoutly in the second half but were left to rue poor options and dropped ball at crucial stages.

Both teams have next weekend off ahead of the five-game run to the finals.

In other fixtures, Wynnum Manly Redland City backrower Mitch McMillan scored a hat-trick in his side’s big 48-16 victory over Valleys Diehards.

At South Pine Sports Complex, Gaters survived a Carina comeback to register an important 24-16 win.
