Sam Thaiday and Matt Scott are two of the biggest names in rugby league.

Between them, they’ve played 44 Origins and 45 Tests … not bad for two guys who started their rugby league journeys on local fields in country Queensland.

Scott played his junior footy for the Longreach Tigers and Gemfield Giants in the central west, while Thaiday started out with Townsville Brothers.

With strong tries to remote and rural Queensland, it should come as no surprise that the Maroons stars jumped at the chance to take part in a photo shoot with the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

The RFDS are one of the major beneficiaries of this weekend’s ‘Get in the Game’ Country Week, with a percentage of gate takings from all Intrust Super Cup matches to be donated to the organisation.

Games will be played in Charters Towers, Dalby, Blackall, Bundaberg, Innisfail and Stanthorpe.
