The Banksia Beach State School proved too strong for Kirwan State School in the Under 12 NRL Development Cup final, with centre Franco Lim Santos Faria scoring a hat-trick to seal the win for the Bribie Island school.

Banksia started the day on the right foot with Lim Santos Faria producing a great in-and-away run down the left hand, showing his speed to score the first try of the day.

However in an entertaining half, both teams had no trouble scoring tries and Kirwan replied soon after through hooker Kai Tanner.

With the halftime score 16-6 in favour of Banksia Beach, Kirwan knew they had to come out hard to start the second half.

They did just that with forward Matthew Schulz charging over to open the scoring in the second half, to draw his side closer 16-12.

Banksia however had plenty more tries in them with second row forward Deacon Burton scoring his double; to put his side on step closer to victory.

Kirwan captain Harley Taylor tried to lift his side with a try to bring his team closer, pushing the scores to 18-22; but Banksia proved too strong in the opening game of the 2015 Intrust Super Cup grand final day.

With the final seconds of the game, counting down; Banksia centre Lim Santo Faria ran almost the length-of-the-field to score the last try of the day to bring the final score 26-18.
