The Cronulla Sharks have secured the services of Ipswich Jets five-eighth Josh Cleeland for the 2016 season.

Cleeland's one-year-deal with the Sharks comes as a reward for an outstanding 2015 season playing for an all-conquering Jets team in the Intrust Super Cup, where he lead the competition in both try and line break assists.

Ipswich won both the Intrust Super Cup title, and the National Club Championship, when they comfortably accounted for the Newcastle Knights on NRL Grand Final day.

The stockily-built Cleeland playing a leading role for the Jets in the number six jersey throughout the season.

Cleeland's signing comes only days after the club announced that fellow Queenslander Jordan Drew would be making his way to the Shire ahead of the next season.

The duo will add to the depth of talent in the Sharks squad, complementing the earlier signings of James Maloney, Chad Townsend and more recently Manly forward Jesse Sene-Lafao.

Cleeland and Drew will join the rest of the Sharks NRL squad for the start of pre-season training early in November.
