This weekend saw the one year anniversary of Cyclone Marcia which caused plenty of damage across the Capricorn Coast and Rockhampton.

Rockhampton Tigers home ground after Cyclone Marcia came through last year.

The Rockhampton Tigers suffered significant damage to its clubhouse and fields last year and was to hold a gala day with Biloela Panthers that weekend.

It is now 12 months on and they have been able to host not only the Panthers, but also invited local club Norths Knights to their ground for round robin games in the 6-12 year old age groups; while also hosting Norths in their Round 2 Under 13 and Under 14 clashes.

The past 12 months has been a rollercoaster for the Tigers. Following the damage caused by the cyclone, they endured issues with their new facility, but this did not deter the strong committee.

They worked hard with support from the local council and gained grants to rebuild their premises and fields. They saw their Under 13 side make the finals for the first time in years, they were nominated as a finalist in the NRL One Community Grass Roots Club of the Year category and have gained a solid supporter base.

Games to watch from Round 3 will be the Under 14 Fitzroys and Tigers game. Fitzroys have assembled a very handy side and Tigers will be looking to build on the good results from 2015. Even though 2016 hasn't started as they would have liked, this should be a great game.

Saturday brings together the battle of the Coast with Yeppoon Seagulls heading down the road to Emu Park. The Under 14 game will be a repeat of last year’s grand final, Yeppoon came from 4th place only to have their momentum stopped in the decider. There is plenty of speed in both sides and there should be plenty of points scored.

Saturday also sees a full program at The Gymmy Grounds with North's hosting their old foe Brothers. The Under 13 game should be close as Norths are last year’s premiers.

Get down early to this one as this game will be close.
