Central Highlands Rugby League President Frank Lambley expects 2016 to be one of the biggest years of rugby league in the Central Highlands and is looking forward to it.
“Last year was one of the biggest years for rugby league in the Central Highlands with one of the most exciting finals’ series played out in recent years and this year, we hope to top it,” Lambley said.
“I’m very much looking forward to the 2016 season and seeing all eight teams in the Men’s competition and five teams in the Women’s competition compete for the Purcell’s Engineering Premiership.”
This year’s season will also include various cause rounds which will raise awareness and funds for some of the biggest issues facing players around the Central Highlands and Australia.
These includes our Domestic Violence Prevention Round in partnership with the Queensland Police Service, Women in League Round acknowledging the hard work and dedication by many females in rugby league and State of Mind Round, helping tackle the stigma surrounding mental illness.
Grand final day for 2016 is set down for Saturday, September 3 and only time will tell as to which four teams will be competing for the Men’s and Women’s premiership.
