Devils honour junior clubs

Family and fun will be the buzz words when the Norths Devils host the Burleigh Bears in Sunday’s Intrust Super Cup match at Bishop Park.

The 1.40pm clash between two of the competition’s form teams will be televised live across the Nine Network.

Fans looking for an entertaining day out have plenty of reasons to get down to the Nundah venue to watch the Round 5 match, which will be one of the highlights of the nab Family Fun Day.

There will be numerous activities for the kids, including amusement rides and a sausage sizzle.

This day is open for all Devils junior affiliate clubs that are involved in the Northern Broncos Development program.

The Intrust Super Cup players will get into the spirit by wearing their junior clubs socks for the game, and a march-past featuring junior clubs will take place at half time of the main game.

The junior clubs in the club’s Northern Broncos program are:

Banyo Devils

Norths Juniors

St Joseph’s juniors

Brothers

Valleys Diehards

West Mitchelton Panthers

Samford Stags

Pine Central Holy Spirit

Pine Rivers Bears

Devils CEO Jamie Dowse said the club was proud of its development program.

“Our program has developed numerous Intrust Super Cup, NRL and international players in the past and we hope to continue the development of players on and off the field going forward,” Dowse said.

“It is important to reward the junior clubs in our program because they are the ones developing these players each week from the young age groups. We just give them a pathway and put a bit of polish on them.”

Gates open at 8.30am. The first match kicks off at 9am with Norths playing Wynnum Manly in the Cyril Connell Cup.
