Queensland skipper not a quitter

by QRL Media

The New Souths Wales Women made history this year – claiming the Nellie Doherty Cup for the first time since the Women’s Interstate Challenge was established.

Speaking to media before the game – Jillaroos and Queensland skipper Steph Hancock was quoted as saying she would “give it away” if her side 's 17-year undefeated run were to end.

After suffering the feeling she said she never wanted to experience; she told QRL TV can’t wait to get out on the field to contest next year’s Instate Challenge match and do her best to bring the cup back to Queensland.

“After what I said in the media this week, I am going to be eating my own words, but, I deadest didn’t think this was going to happen today and it just feels terrible and I want that trophy back, trust me,” Hancock said.

The proud captain also thanked the crowd for their great support and acknowledged that despite being disappointed with the result, the game was a great spectacle and showed the strengths of women’s rugby league.
