The passion and devotion of our leading local league teams will come to the fore over the next two months with a host of premiership trophies to go on the line.

From the Gold Coast in the South East to Bamaga in the Far North, fans are in for a special ride as they cheer on their local heroes.

Fittingly, one of the most exciting local league teams in the state – the Cherbourg Hornets – kicked off the grand final action last weekend with a breathtaking performance.

The Hornets played some brilliant attacking footy on their way to a big 68-20 win over Nanango in the South Burnett competition.

In the Central Burnett grand final, the Mundubbera Tigers lifted the trophy with a strong 40-14 win over the Eidsvold Eagles 14.
