Preliminary final of the Gold Coast-Tweed Gen Z Employment Cup preview.

Last weekend, the Southport Tigers were knocked out of the grand final running after losing to the Burleigh Bears 32-16 last weekend.

Tweed Head Seagulls v Burleigh Bears

The Tweed Heads Seagulls and Burleigh Bears will go head-to-head this week for the final spot in the 2016 Gold Coast-Tweed Rugby League Grand Final.
Only four points separated the Seagulls and Bears last encounter, so we might see another nail-biter for this preliminary match, with the grand final on the line.
Falling short 28-10 in last weekend’s match against the Tugun Seahawks, the Seagulls will be extra motivated to defeat the Bears to rectify their defeat.
Coach Clint Barends said Tugun out-enthused his team and came out strong.
Struggling to come back from the half time 26-0 score, the Seagulls were much stronger in the second half and will need to start well this weekend.
Trent Smith was a standout in last weekend’s game and this weekend, key goal kicker Jacob Garland will return this week from injury.
The Seagulls know the Bears are in top form and are preparing for a tough game ahead.
The Bears confidently progressed to this week’s preliminary final as they maintained control of the match against the Southport Tigers.
Coach Matt Foster said “the match was a grinder as both teams had high completions and minimal errors in the first half”.
Foster knew the Bears had to take every opportunity that presented itself as Southport were tough competition.
The Bears will experience some minimal changes through Jarrod Tua and Dylan Pelo both returning this weekend and Josh Berkers, Caleb Morehu and Darren Griffiths all out of action.
The team is working on their game plan, fine-tuning aspects on the field and maintaining their momentum.
Marty Mitchell, Jonagh Gardiner and Caleb Morehu were mentioned as stand out players in last weekend’s match.

Good luck to all teams this weekend!
