They may have perusing the famous venue that will host the Four Nations Final on November 20 but Kangaroos captain Cameron Smith insists his side remains very much focused on first-up opponents Scotland on Saturday.
Smith joined fellow Four Nations captains Sam Burgess (England), Jesse Bromwich (New Zealand) and Danny Brough (Scotland) at Anfield on Monday, the iconic venue that is home to English Premier League powerhouse Liverpool FC.
But rather than looking forward to what it would be like to play at such a stadium, Smith said that the unknown nature of many of the Scottish players and the unfamiliar conditions make the Bravehearts a tough assignment first up.
Brough was a star for Scotland at the 2013 Rugby League World Cup and with NRL back-up in the form of Luke Douglas, Lachlan Coote, Kane Linnett and Euan Aitken the Kangaroos skipper is expecting to face a committed outfit at the KC Lightstream Stadium in Hull.
"I know a few of the guys involved in their team," Smith said of the Scots. "There are a handful of NRL players in there and a couple of the senior guys that are involved in the Super League but overall not a whole heap.
"The one thing I do know is that they're going to come out and give their all against us.
"In a way it's a bit of a tricky game for us, we don't know a whole lot about their side, we're playing in entirely different conditions to what we're used to, it's going to be pretty windy and pretty cold and pretty greasy up in Hull.
"The way that we've been preparing and the way we've been talking about this match is that we've just got to go out and play like we're playing against England or New Zealand.
"It's going to be pretty tough and we just need to start well against the Scottish team and if we do that then hopefully that will give us the win."
